Leaders in Learning: Boise Urban Garden School Summer Camps give students hands on knowledge of grow

Summer is here and over at Boise's Urban Garden School, summer camp classes are gearing up for the season!

Boise's Urban Garden School known better as BUGS is an outdoor camp for students who want to learn about where food comes from - in a hands-on environment!

Located in west Boise, they have a three quarter acre teaching garden that is ready for students to plant and care for.

Giving them the opportunity to learn about organic and science-based gardening and how to grow your own food.

"Right now we are doing garden camps for our sprouts campers that are years old 6-9 years old." explains BUGS Education Coordinator Janice Alexander. "We also offer a preschool camp out in the garden. And then we have culinary camps for kids 9-14 that take place in the kitchen where they use the produce we grow to make a delicious lunch every day. "

Camps are one week at a time - from 9am to 12:30pm, 5 mornings a week.

And that's not all!

They offer a Junior Bee Keeping Camp and a Junior Naturalist Camp.

For a variety of educational opportunities!
